On the hosted trial, deployment-wide settings such as SCIM, the IP allowlist, required MFA, AI, email and service tokens are managed by the operator. On a self-managed deployment your administrators control them.
§ 02/Questions
Straight answers
- What is a seat?
- A person who can sign in to your organization and work in its projects. Service tokens used by CI or scripts are not seats, and disabled users aren't billed. Service tokens are created by a system admin.
- What counts as a model built?
- Each model your deploy, CI and merge jobs, and any production build, successfully build. Development builds in Studio are free, and so are tests, seeds, snapshots and failed models.
- What happens when the trial ends?
- Nothing is charged automatically. You add a payment method through Stripe Checkout when you decide to continue; until then the account stays as it is.
- How is billing handled?
- Monthly through Stripe: seats, plus models built beyond your monthly allowance. Your Plan & usage page shows usage and the running estimate at any time; invoices and payment methods are self-service in the customer portal.
- Which warehouses are supported?
- Thirteen. Tested end to end against a real instance: PostgreSQL, SQL Server (including Azure SQL), Oracle, Trino / Starburst and ClickHouse. In preview: Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Amazon Athena and Teradata. Preview means the connection is validated against the vendor's dbt adapter and driver but has not yet been run against a live account. Feature support varies by warehouse; the product page has the full matrix.
- Hosted trial or self-managed?
- A hosted trial runs on infrastructure Forewarden operates and starts with a managed repository and a starter project. Deployment-wide settings such as SCIM, the IP allowlist, required MFA, AI, email, service tokens and connecting an existing Git repository are managed by the operator. On a self-managed deployment your administrators control them.
- Can we run it on our own infrastructure?
- Yes. Forewarden ships as three container images with a compose stack. Self-managed deployments are quoted per team; write to us.
